Feed Mapping fields explained

Configuration

This is the main section where you configure how to import data into the PIM system.

  1. File source: There are two options here:
    • External file: If this option is selected, it would allow you to specify a URL or some external source from where the file can be fetched.
    • Upload file: This is the selected option, which means you'll be uploading a file directly from your computer or network.
  2. Upload file area: This is a drag-and-drop interface or a browsing option to select a file from your local computer to upload.
  3. Goal: Here, you can define the purpose of the import:
    • Content Enrichment: by selecting this option, the import will be used to add or update products in the PIM system.
    • Variant Relationships: If selected, the import is meant to define or update the relationships between product variants.
  4. Product type: This lets you specify the type of products in the import file.
    • Simple product: A standalone product without any variants.
    • Child product: A product that is a variant of another product, which would be the 'Parent product'.
    • Parent product: A product that has variants, referred to as 'Child products'.
    • Grandparent product: product line or category that includes several 'Parent products'.
  5. Import level: This section lets you choose how the import process should handle the data. There are three options:
    • Full Selective: This option will add new data from the import file to the PIM system. If existing data is found in the PIM that matches the import file, it will be updated with the information from the file. This option will also remove data in the PIM system if it's no longer in the import file.
    • Insert & Update: This option will add new data from the import file to the PIM systemdating existing data. This will overwrite existing entries with new data from the import file
    • Update: This option is strictly for updating purposes.
  1. Name: This is the name of your feed mapping. It will be pre-filled with your file's name, but you can also change it.
  2. Description (optional): This field allows you to add any relevant description or notes about the feed mapping.

Content Enrichment

This is the section where link your file fields to the fields into KatanaPIM.

  1. Automap: This button, typically found at the top-right corner, would be used to automatically map import names to internal names based on matching text, simplifying the mapping process.
  2. Internal name: The names of fields as recognized within the PIM system. These are the fields that will be enriched or updated with the imported data.
  3. Import name: The corresponding column headers in the import file. These should match or be mapped to the internal names in the PIM system for successful data import.
  4. Multi-language: indicates the ability to import and manage different language versions for that particular field. You can check this box if you are importing multilingual data.
  5. Overwrite: Checkboxes in this column would allow you to overwrite existing data for the respective field in the PIM system. When checked, the imported data will replace any existing data in the PIM system for that field.
  6. Example: This column provides an example of the data that could be in each field, helping to illustrate what kind of content is expected.

Blue dots: The presence of blue dots next to an internal name indicates that there are unsaved edits in that row. These changes need to be saved for the mapping to be applied during the import process.
Fields marked with an asterisk (*) & in bold
: These fields are required. The import process cannot be successfully completed unless these fields are mapped and contain data in the import file.
