Creating a Feed Mapping from a local file - content enrichment

This documentation provides step-by-step guidance on creating a feed mapping directly from a local file, to import new products or enrich/edit data of products that are already in your KatanaPIM environment.

  • Accessing Feed Mappings: on the Import Page, navigate to the 'Feed Mappings' tab and select 'Add New'. This is where you define a new mapping template.
  • File source selection: click on "upload file". To give it a try, consider using the sample file provided.
  • Uploading the feed file: upload your feed file by dragging it into the designated area or selecting it via file explorer.
The supported formats are: XLSX, CSV, XML and JSON.
Please note: when importing XML and JSON, make sure to also select the right NODE in the appearing "Product node" field. When importing CSV, ensure that any CSV file you import includes at least three columns.
  • In the 'Approve new template' window, click on 'Apply'.
  • Select your import goal: Content Enrichment allows you to import new products (with the related content) or enrich products that are already in the system.
  • Select the appropriate product type (simple product, or variations).
  • Selecting Feed Import level: choose an appropriate level of feed import, like 'Full Selective'. This choice impacts how the imported data will interact with existing data in KatanaPIM.
  • Name your feed mapping and include a descriptive summary for future reference. This allows for easy identification and enhances organization.

Next, you'll need to map your file fields to those in KatanaPIM. This can be done either manually or by utilizing the Automap function for a quicker setup process.

Manual content enrichment

  • Field mapping: under the 'Content enrichment' tab, proceed to map your fields. This is the step where you define how each column in your feed correlates to data fields in KatanaPIM.
  • Multi-language and overwrite options: these options allow further customization of how data is imported. Multi-Language supports importing data in various languages, while Overwrite determines whether new data will replace existing data in KatanaPIM.
  • Add specifications: Click on 'add specifications' to link specification values from your file, to the corresponding spec in KatanaPIM.
  • Add images: click on 'add image'. Your local file will have to contain public urls for each image.
  • Saving the configuration: after mapping the fields and setting preferences, save your configuration. This finalizes the Feed Mapping and makes it ready for use in import tasks.

Auto map function

  • Usage of auto mapping: auto mapping simplifies the mapping process by automatically linking fields based on similarities in their names or structures. It utilizes a percentage-based accuracy system to determine matches between 'Internal Name' and 'Import Name'.
  • Configuration options in Auto map: you can choose to include base fields, image fields, and additional specifications in the auto-mapping process. Additionally, you can decide whether to apply the Overwrite setting to all fields already having an active mapping.
